Here Is What You Will Be Doing

  • Strategic System Planning: Provide expert advice and input from a planning perspective to guide the development of health-care system funding plans. Manage project plans and allocate budgets for key planning and integration initiatives.
  • Regional Leadership & Collaboration: Partner with System Strategy, Planning, Design, and Implementation Teams in both the North East and North West. Serve as the Ontario Health lead for monitoring implementation, and lead ongoing quality improvement across vital areas, including surgery, diagnostic imaging, emergency and critical care, capacity and service level planning, patient flow, laboratory and pharmacy services, and other hospital-related domains.
  • Data-Driven Analysis: Conduct and coordinate in-depth analysis of local health-care systems, utilizing provincial data, community insights, and various sources. Identify gaps, establish planning priorities, and support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Innovative Methodologies: Identify and apply appropriate planning approaches, such as needs-based predictive models and community-informed practices, to address evolving system needs.
  • Research & Professional Leadership: Champion high-quality research and planning, and provide leadership in the development of methodologies that advance the health planning profession.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate effective consultations with stakeholders, assess the impact of planning recommendations, and promote consensus-driven actions to realize shared goals.
  • Provincial Collaboration: Contribute meaningfully to provincial planning activities, ensuring alignment and synergy across Ontario’s health care landscape.

Education And Experience

Here is what you will need to be successful:

  • Post-secondary education in health administration, health planning, business administration or a related field with Master’s level degree preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a health care environment.
  • 5+ years experience in a health care environment required – leading projects, business development, health system planning, stakeholder engagement/facilitation, client services or similar role

Knowledge And Skills

  • Good knowledge of and proven ability to apply multiple planning and analysis methodologies and make effective recommendations.
  • Understanding of the current and changing dynamics of the Ontario health-care system and issues.
  • Experience with seniors care, community care and hospital environment and policies is an asset.
  • Understanding and experience with embedding quality improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated financial competence.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with other staff and to liaise with colleagues across Ontario Health and with contacts in the Ministry
  • Must be highly organized and able to thrive in a face paced environment with multiple priorities
  • Uses information to make informed decisions and provides advice; exercises high degree of independence and professional judgment in problem solving
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills. Internally, communicates with colleagues throughout the organization to present, discuss information and problems related to financial management and funding. Externally, communicates directly with various stakeholders to monitor funding allocations and performance.
  • Strong attention to detail, demonstrated integrity and professionalism with a solid understanding of financial controls.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills required.
  • Must be highly organized and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
