Qualifications

• Must be registered as a Professional Engineer in BC and seal electrical drawings.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
• Experience designing and reviewing electrical systems for buildings (residential, commercial, industrial).
• Strong knowledge of Can. Electrical Code, BC Building Code, Vancouver By-Law and municipal requirements.
• Ability to lead projects, coordinate with clients and multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and guidance for electrical building design projects.
• Take professional responsibility for electrical engineering work, including reviewing and sealing drawings and other documents.
• Lead and mentor engineers and designers on project teams.
• Lead projects from concept through design and construction.
• Develop and improve Buildings Electrical standards, specifications, design practices, and QA processes.
• Perform design reviews for code compliance and constructability.
• Design electrical systems including power, lighting, controls, fire alarm, life safety, communications, security, and access control.
• Coordinate with clients, architects, consultants, contractors, and utilities.
• Liaise with BC Hydro on project intake and design requirements.
• Prepare drawings, calculations, reports and other design documents.
• Lead meetings and site reviews as required.
• Support project scope, schedule, budget and deliverables.
