Job description

Job Title: Lead AWS Infra DevOps Engineer

Job ID: 81267

Location: Toronto, Canada (Onsite)

Overview:

The Lead AWS Infra DevOps Engineer is a senior technical role responsible for architecting, developing, and managing cloud infrastructure solutions using AWS services and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles, with a focus on the AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK). The individual will lead a team of DevOps engineers to automate infrastructure provisioning, ensure robust CI/CD pipelines, enforce security and compliance standards, and drive cloud adoption best practices across the organization. This role involves collaboration with development, operations, security, and architecture teams to enable rapid and reliable delivery of cloud-native applications. As a hands-on leader, the engineer will guide the implementation of scalable, cost-effective, and fault-tolerant solutions on AWS, while mentoring team members in modern DevOps practices and tools.

What you will be doing:

  1. Lead the design and implementation of AWS infrastructure solutions for database and application migrations, ensuring scalability, security, and optimal performance.
  2. Architect and manage complex cloud networking solutions, including VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, and VPC endpoints for AWS RDS, Aurora, and ECS environments.
  3. Design, implement, and enforce security policies across AWS cloud environments to ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., encryption, IAM roles, security groups, key management, vulnerability assessments).
  4. Leverage AWS CDK, CloudFormation, and Ansible to automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment processes, adhering to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices.
  5. Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure, using tools like AWS CloudWatch, Dynatrace, and others to track performance, availability, and scalability across ECS, RDS, Aurora, and related AWS components.
  6. Lead, mentor, and collaborate with a team of DevOps engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and technical excellence.
  7. Work closely with development and database teams to streamline CI/CD pipelines, ensuring smooth deployment of database migrations to RDS/Aurora and application migrations to ECS.
  8. Lead troubleshooting efforts for infrastructure-related issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring rapid resolution of performance bottlenecks and resource disruptions.
  9. Implement proactive measures to optimize resource utilization in ECS clusters and RDS/Aurora instances, including cost management, auto-scaling, and performance tuning strategies.
  10. Ensure infrastructure compliance with industry regulations and best practices, including cloud security controls such as encryption in transit, key management, access policies, and audit requirements.
