Placements24 seeks a Lead Avionics Software Engineer to guide a remote team in designing, developing, testing, and certifying complex flight-critical software systems for aerospace applications.

You will oversee the full lifecycle, ensure DO-178C compliance, and collaborate with systems and hardware engineers to define robust software architectures. A strong leader with 10+ years in software and avionics is required.

Qualifications

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years in software development, with at least 5 years in avionics software for safety‑critical systems.
  • Proven experience leading software engineering teams and managing complex projects.
  • In‑depth knowledge of RTOS, embedded systems, and C/C++.
  • Strong understanding of DO-178C certification processes and requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of software engineers in avionics software design, development and implementation.
  • Oversee the entire software development lifecycle from requirements analysis to deployment and maintenance.
  • Ensure software development adheres to rigorous safety standards such as DO-178C and aviation regulations.
  • Collaborate with systems, hardware engineers and cert authorities to define software requirements and architecture.
  • Drive innovation in software development methodologies, tools and technologies.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews, test planning and ensure quality and reliability of delivered software.
