About The Role
The Lead, Alumni Communications and Content is responsible for designing and implementing high-level content strategies to support the successful achievement of departmental business objectives. This position is responsible for conducting ongoing market research, project evaluation and data analytics to inform the development of a comprehensive content strategy, an editorial plan and workflow process and large-scale marketing campaigns.
The position provides daily oversight on all of the Alumni Relations social media and communications channels, upholds brand voice and consistency, and leads an editorial function to manage and review all content (blog posts, video, audio, marketing copy, long-form stories) generated within the Alumni Relations team. This is an “on-call” role that interacts regularly with senior leaders and assumes significant responsibility for the reputation and public face of the university amongst the alumni community.
Responsibilities
- Design and lead the implementation of a comprehensive content strategy for Alumni Relations that helps achieve departmental business objectives and institutional strategic priorities
- Design and conduct market research, including surveys, focus groups and A/B testing, and regular data analysis and evaluation of past activity, and prepare and present recommendations for continuous improvement
- Prepare and write story pitches, project briefs, marketing campaign plans, articles and stories, video storyboards and scripts, web, social, print and e-newsletter copy, etc
- Develop social media content plans, alumni digital community engagement plans, and maintain the alumni website and social media as a high-quality user experience for alumni
- Identify and engage with alumni subject matter experts to develop user-generated content
- Develop and uphold user experience standards and document processes and workflows to test and optimize user experience
Qualifications
- Three or Four Year Bachelor Degree or Equivalent
- 8+ years of experience in marketing and communications, content strategy, B2C content marketing, digital media or brand management
- In-depth knowledge of Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Canva, Podio, analytics tools, and content management systems
- In depth understanding of optimization of social media channels for audience growth and engagement
- Exceptional writing, storytelling and copy-editing skills
- Exceptional relationship-building skills, including high degree of tact and mature judgment
- Demonstrated success in managing complex projects and implementing workflow and process improvements
- Demonstrated success in designing marketing campaigns, content strategy and user experiences that meet business goals, grow audience and increase revenue
- Ability to work in a cross-functional, team based environment
- Proven leadership and supervisory skills
- Must be an innovative thinker with high level of initiative, energy and enthusiasm
- Experience with Raiser’s Edge and Blackbaud NetCommunity preferred
- Experience with working in a large complex organization preferred, ideally in higher education or with a fundraising component
Salary: $76,640.00 - $96,963.00 per annum
