Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. seeks a Principal Machine Learning Engineer Developer to define how AI, LLMs, and autonomous operations transform Cisco’s networking and security platforms. You will work at the intersection of AI, telemetry, and operations to enable proactive assurance and safe automated remediation.

You will lead architectures, mentor engineers, and partner with product teams to deliver scalable, cloud-native solutions using Kubernetes and multi-cloud architectures.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in AI/ML, platform engineering, distributed systems, agentic applications in networking, security operations, or related fields.
• Experience with large-scale operational data, including metrics, logs, events, alerts, traces, topology, configurations, and unstructured data.
• Proficiency in C++, Go, Java, and/or Python.

Responsibilities

• Define architectures for AI-native network and security operations platforms across observability, incident intelligence, threat analysis, and automation.
• Integrate LLMs and agentic workflows with telemetry, topology, configurations, events, alerts, and logs.
• Build intelligent capabilities for anomaly detection, root-cause analysis, performance prediction, and guided remediation.
• Develop world models to infer operational state across devices, users, services, and dependencies.
• Design closed-loop automation for proactive detection and safe remediation.
