Reporting to the AVP – Technology Strategy & Performance Enablement, the Lead Advisor, Technology Communications, is responsible for developing and delivering communications material that “positions” the IT Department’s operational changes and transformational achievements. The key audience for most of these communications will be the IT Department and/or LBC employees impacted by a change to the Bank’s technical ecosystem. The Lead Advisor is also responsible for developing, maintaining and issuing templates and tools to enable IT Leads and project teams develop and deliver appropriate communications.
The successful candidate will ensure clarity and consistency of messaging in both French and English. They will serve as a valuable member of the IT Operations Committee and work collaboratively with Corporate Communications team, and the various business lines, providing communications guidance as well as editorial and tactical support. In all work, the incumbent will ensure that we respect and enhance the Bank's corporate voice.
The position is well-suited to a self-starter with a demonstrated ability to communicate technical-related content to a non-technical audience, who is known for their ability to work as a team player, building positive working relationships and working on a range of topics with varying degrees of complexity in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
- Develop content for the monthly Technology newsletter (Tech IT Out), by building relationships with IT Leads and their teams, and by having a high-level view of changes, continuous improvement initiatives as well as transformational projects.
- Write “technology translated” user-friendly, polished, and engaging content that meets the needs of our users.
- Assist in managing the IT Communications service request queue (on the ServiceNow portal) by reviewing requests and determining the most appropriate approach to actioning them
- Manage the monthly / quarterly IT On-boarding sessions, ensuring agenda, content and presenters are prepared for each session.
- Supporting the success of a variety of IT Department communication channels including CIO Coffee Chats, IT Department Townhalls, IT Communications mailbox etc.
- Leverage the skills and experience of senior resources to effectively apply standards, frameworks, and practices
- Participate in the development and deployment of effective communication plans for various technology initiatives and company projects, programs and announcements to ensure accuracy and alignment of corporate messages and engagement of team members.
- Provide strategic and creative advice on effective communication strategies, plans and processes, as well as tools to measure results.
- Develop and write a variety of relevant and tailored bilingual content including memos, speeches, presentations, newsletters, etc.
- Support the Bank's environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) initiatives, consistent with the company's ESG strategies.
- Communicate in an inclusive manner by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the social and cross-cultural needs of diverse groups.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Information Technology, or a related field with a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in technology documentation, communication, or related field
- Very good understanding of communications and reputation management for public companies
- Experience working with key players in all sectors of the company, including with senior management
- Superior written and verbal communication skills in French and English*
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure on several projects simultaneously in a changing environment with an eye for prioritization.
- Good knowledge of technology solutions for effective communications, XML tools to create content (SharePoint, WordPress, Power Point, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to innovate, improve operational efficiency and influence change
- Excellent judgment, strategic thinking, and the ability to summarize complex idea into clear, understandable language.
- Strong organizational skills, professional rigor, and attention to detail
- Professional working proficiency in French and English languages required as position involves frequent written and oral communication on complex matters with internal and external parties in both languages.
