Lead Advisor, Regulatory Payments Compliance

This role reports to the Senior Manager, Regulatory Risk and Privacy Advisory Services. The Senior Advisor, Payments Regulatory Compliance, monitors payments regulations, represents the bank on industry committees, advises business lines on payments rules, and manages regulatory risks.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor regulatory developments in payments (Interac, Visa, Payments Canada, etc.) and analyze their impact.
  • Represent the bank on industry committees and participate actively.
  • Lead and support payment compliance activities within the team.
  • Promote a culture of compliance organization-wide.
  • Advise on regulatory risks related to payment solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure process compliance and risk management.
  • Assess regulatory risks in payments projects and initiatives.
  • Develop and oversee action plans for regulatory issues.
  • Prepare compliance reports and certifications for management and regulators.
Qualifications
  • At least 10 years of experience in compliance, governance, risk management, law, or related fields within the payments industry.
  • Experience managing regulatory initiatives.
  • Deep knowledge of payment regulations and related areas like privacy.
  • Familiarity with Payments Canada platforms and international payment infrastructures.
  • Knowledge of Visa, Interac, and mobile wallets.
  • University degree in finance, business, law, or related; MBA is a plus.
  • Strategic and creative thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and independent work skills.
  • Strong analytical, relationship management, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Bilingual in French and English, with professional proficiency in both.
