Reporting to the Vice President Operations, the LeadAdvisor, Credit Risk has primary responsibility for the risk oversight andcontrol of credit, operational risk across all businesslines.These include Retail services(full service and discount broker), Institutional Services (carrying broker), StructuredProducts, Foreign Exchange, Wealth Management as well as the Institutional Equity andInstitutional Fixed Income business lines. Proactively engage in new techniques to minimize overall debt exposure.
- Provide support to the Vice president Operations andthe management committee, as necessary by contributing to resolving gaps incredit risk processes by developing, recommending & implementing solutions.
- Work with internal stakeholders to enhance andimplement key risk controls via new & existing policies, guidelines, andprocesses.
- Be up to date with changes to policies, procedures andprocesses, trends in retail banking, capital markets, credit, technology, andregulatory issues
- Define goals, review & build, where applicable,key performance metrics and dashboards to monitor and improve our creditapproach.
- Produce reports and statistics for various internaland external stakeholders.
- Review significant transactions & irregularitiesto ensure proper risk controls are in place while continuing facilitatebusiness.
- Monitor credit exposure and adhere to compliancestandards
- Propose, review, and continually improve creditpolicies & procedures for clients: e.g. client requirements to qualify to tradeon margin, acceptable risk comfort for the firm, margin call requirements andprotocols
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, finance,economics, or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years in a similar role.
- Knowledge of the wealth management & capitalmarkets industry and corresponding experience in credit analysis.
- Self-starter who will work independently and as a teamplayer to manage multiple assignments
- Excellent presentation and organizational skills toproduce quality work with exceptional attention to detail.
- Solid understanding of Enterprise and Operational RiskManagement methodologies, frameworks, and policies.
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation andregulatory environment including IIROC regulations.
