Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as the Lead Actuary Property Americas, reporting to the Head of Property & Specialty (P&S) Actuarial Portfolio Management.

About the Role

  1. Strategy development: Collaborate with underwriting leadership and product teams of Property Americas portfolios to support strategy development and execution of underwriting strategies. Partner with the portfolio leader to monitor and evaluate opportunities for growth and remediation. Work with the Head APM P&S to ensure alignment across Property portfolios.
  2. Portfolio management discipline: Drive portfolio management practices across Property Americas, ensuring long-term strategies, detailed business plans, and responsive monitoring frameworks are in place. Collaborate with the Head APM P&S to ensure consistency with other Property portfolios.
  3. Pricing model development: Ensure that pricing parameters for Property Americas are calibrated in line with the Global Rating framework, reflecting the latest experience, portfolio mix, and market trends. Work with technology teams to implement these tools for underwriting decisions.
  4. Analytical decision-making: Develop insights on portfolio profitability considering current market dynamics, rates, and loss experience. Lead initiatives to analyze profitability drivers and collaborate with stakeholders to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate risks.
  5. Team management and leadership: Manage a diverse team of actuaries in North America, providing mentorship and performance feedback. Contribute to the leadership and strategic direction of the Property portfolios as part of the APM Property leadership team.

About the Team

You will join a global team responsible for pricing models, parameters, and tools related to General Property, Energy, and Alternative Risk Transfer products. You will lead North American actuaries and oversee portfolio management strategies for Property Americas underwriting portfolios. You will also be part of the leadership team of APM Property & Specialty.

About You

You are likely an actuary with extensive experience in Commercial Insurance, preferably in Property or similar lines such as Engineering. You possess a blend of industry knowledge, business insight, and technical skills. You are capable of leading initiatives, driving change, and making data-driven decisions. Your communication skills are clear and adaptable, and you build strong professional relationships. You have an open-minded, curious approach and are committed to continuous learning.

Fluency in English is required. The role is based in the US and involves some travel, not exceeding 10%.
