Job summary

OpenText is seeking a Lead Accountant, Corporate Accounting to join the finance team in Canada. You will work on corporate accounting, consolidation, internal reporting, and analysis, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements and ensure robust controls.

You will lead month-end close, prepare reconciliations, support external auditors, and develop internal reporting using SAP, NetSuite, OneStream, and other systems. CPA designation is required.

Qualifications

• Completion of a degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business or Finance or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
• CPA designation (or equivalent) required.
• Prior “Big 4” firm experience is preferred.
• Strong collaboration and organizational skills.
• Must be detail oriented with an analytical mindset.
• Self-motivated with a strong desire to take initiative and learn.

Responsibilities

• Lead corporate accounting and consolidation efforts.
• Prepare month-close entries and reconciliations; promote best practices with Accounting Services.
• Research accounting standard changes and provide reports on findings for future pronouncements.
• Provide support to External Reporting, Tax, Corporate Finance, Legal Entity Controllership, Treasury and Internal Audit.
• Liaise with external auditors during annual audits and quarterly reviews.
• Support the legal entity rationalization process.
• Develop internal reports using SAP, NetSuite, OneStream and other systems.
• Participate in finance projects, including system automation and process improvements.

YOUR IMPACT

The Lead Accountant, Corporate Accounting will work with the corporate accounting function and take a key role in various corporate accounting, consolidation, internal reporting, and analysis functions. This role offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams, drive process improvements, and contribute to the overall success of the company.

What The Role Offers

• Perform analytical review of period end financial results including balance sheet and income statement fluctuations and provide detailed narratives that help support business decisions.
• Prepare month close entries and account reconciliations and promote best practices with Accounting Services to ensure proper accounting and controls are in place.
• Research and outline accounting standard changes and provide reports on findings for future accounting pronouncements as applicable including recommended next steps.
• Provide support and guidance to other finance teams and the business as required to address financial matters and questions as applicable. This includes but is not limited to External Reporting, Tax, Corporate Finance, Legal Entity Controllership, Treasury, and Internal Audit.
• Liaison with external auditors during the annual audit and quarterly reviews as required.
• Support the legal entity rationalization process.
• Develop custom reports and provide internal reporting to the finance leadership team using various internal systems and automated tools, including SAP, BPC BW, NetSuite, and OneStream.
• Participate in global finance projects:
  • Projects include but are not limited to system automation, process improvements around efficiency and effectiveness of current processes, acquisition integration activities, and internal reporting development.
  • Helping manage project milestones and providing project leaders with timely status report.

What You Need To Succeed

• 2 to 4 years of related finance and accounting experience within either the software, high-tech industries, or public accounting.
• Completion of a degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business or Finance or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
• CPA designation (or equivalent) required.
• Prior “Big 4” firm experience is preferred.
• Strong collaboration and organizational skills.
• Must be detail oriented with an analytical mindset.
• Self-motivated with a strong desire to take initiative and learn.
• Capable of working with minimal supervision, multi-tasking to establish priorities, and completing objectives without supervision in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment
• An analytical mindset
• Effective written, oral, presentation and interpersonal skills to articulate and present advice, options and recommendations to senior management, executives, internal and external stakeholders.
• U.S. GAAP experience is preferred
• Experience with Blackline, SAP, Netsuite and OneStream is preferred
