Lerners is seeking a Law Clerk to support the Real Estate and Land Development and Business Law practice groups in the London, Ontario office. Entry-level to early-career professionals are encouraged to apply. This is a hybrid position and requires a minimum of 3 days in office, or as required.
Primary Responsibilities
- Opening & closing files.
- Conducting conflict searches.
- Inputting files into Unity.
- Commercial real estate and financing transactions.
- Ordering title searches, title insurance policies, corporate searches and municipal reports when following waiver of conditions on transactions.
- Ordering mortgage and other payout statements for sale & mortgage transactions.
- Preparing documents for real estate and financing transactions as well as closing the transactions.
- Finalizing reports – to both clients and financial institutions.
- Billings.
- Following up on undertakings and outstanding items on files.
- Reviewing, updating and maintaining minute books, completing assessments and preparing annual resolutions and other corporate documents from time to time.
- Assisting in drafting and preparation of corporate documents.
- Preparation and filing of documentation as required.
- Maintaining an effective BF system.
Qualifications
- Minimum1-5 years of law clerk experience is preferred with a demonstrated interest in the areas of residential and commercial real estate. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Demonstrate excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn new subject matter and skills.
- Knowledge of Teraview and the requirements of Teraview with respect to title and Unity matters.
- College diploma or university degree in related field an asset.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Suite.
