Job summary

Carta is seeking a Junior Paralegal to join our North America Contracts team in Toronto. You will rotate across or specialize within one of three practice areas depending on your strengths and interests, contributing to a fast-paced, AI-enabled legal operation.

You’ll support lawyers with first-round markups of investment-related NDAs and commercial contracts, manage document lifecycles, deadlines, and communications with counterparties, and assist with execution.

The Team You\'ll Work With

You will be joining our North America Contracts team (US and Canada). Carta Law is the largest AI-native law firm for private capital, born from the combination of Avantia Law and Carta. Our lawyers and paralegals work alongside embedded AI agents to deliver investor onboarding, transaction KYC, and high-volume legal work with a speed and consistency that traditional law firms simply can\'t match. As a Law Clerk you will rotate across or specialize within one of three practice areas depending on your strengths and interests.

• Support lawyers with first-round markups of investment-related NDAs and commercial contracts
• Manage document lifecycles, track deadlines, communicate with counterparties, and assist with execution
• Work closely with lawyers and senior paralegals, contributing to high-quality client delivery across fast-moving, high-volume matters
• Build commercial and legal expertise over time, with opportunities to take ownership of client accounts and progress towards qualification via Bar certification

About You

We are looking for someone who:

• Has bachelor's degree in law or equivalent is preferred; prior exposure to NDAs or KYC processes is a plus but not required
• Eager to learn and grow. You are motivated, curious, and excited to develop expertise in legal practice – whether that is compliance, contracts, or funds
• Organized and efficient. You prioritize well, manage competing deadlines, and keep matters moving without losing attention to detail
• A strong communicator. You write and speak clearly and professionally, understanding that our clients expect crisp, concise advice
• A self-starter. You take initiative, work independently when needed, and proactively flag issues before they become problems
• A team player. You collaborate effectively with lawyers, senior paralegals, and client-facing teams across a fast-paced environment

Salary

Carta’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full time roles, exceptional benefits, and, for applicable roles, commissions plans. Our expected cash compensation (salary + commission if applicable) range for this role is:

$66,400 - $83,000 CAD in Toronto

We are hiring for multiple levels and locations, so final offers may vary from the amounts listed based on geography, experience and expertise, and other factors.
