Prairie Mountain Health is seeking a Laundry Equipment Operator I in Brandon, MB. You will support Environmental Services by handling laundry operations, cleaning duties, and equipment maintenance in line with infection control guidelines.

Responsibilities include training staff, following procedures, and ensuring area cleanliness and safety. This position requires organizational skills, reliability, and ability to work independently in a healthcare setting.

Qualifications

  • Grade 9 education (Manitoba Standards).
  • Other combinations of suitable education and experience may be considered.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), as well as Internet applications and other Information Technology.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in training and orientation of Environmental Services staff and students.
  • Follows departmental procedures to maintain consistency and quality of service.
  • Cleans areas according to schedules and infection control guidelines.
  • Performs extra cleaning duties within established timeframes.
  • Conducts daily area tours to inspect cleanliness.
  • Ensures equipment is clean and operating efficiently.
  • Performs washing, mopping, waxing, vacuuming, polishing, and dusting.
  • Collects waste and washes waste receptacles.
  • Loads/unloads equipment, transport carts, and trucks.
  • Handles linen washing, drying, folding, and transportation.
  • Weighs and records soiled linen prior to sorting.
  • Operates washing and drying equipment.
  • Performs titration and pH checks as required.
  • Cleans and processes laundry per standards.
  • May repair minor laundry equipment as required.
  • Distributes laundry and linen as appropriate.
  • Restocks supplies and assists with inventory.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Manager, Environmental Services or the Supervisor, Environmental Services, the Laundry Equipment Operator I is responsible for performing the following activities according to related policies and procedures and any government regulations and legislation: assists in all aspects of laundry services in accordance with established standards, procedures, and infection control guidelines; prioritizes and completes all duties, inspections, and inventory responsibilities within established timeframes and schedules; performs all duties in a manner that enhances client and workplace safety.

Responsibilities
Overview
  • Assists in the training and/or orientation of Environmental Services staff and students.
  • Assumes responsibility for following departmental procedures to ensure that the consistency and quality of service is maintained throughout the Environmental Services Department.
  • Cleans assigned areas in accordance with current established cleaning schedules and infection control guidelines.
  • Prioritizes and completes extra cleaning duties within established timeframes and in accordance with current cleaning schedule.
  • Conducts daily tours of areas of responsibility prior to end of shift, inspecting each area for cleanliness.
  • Ensures all equipment is clean and operating efficiently.
  • Performs duties of washing, mopping, waxing, vacuuming, polishing, and dusting using appropriate equipment and products.
  • Collects waste and washes waste receptacles.
  • Assists in loading and unloading of all equipment, transport carts and trucks associated with Environmental Services.
  • Performs duties of collecting, sorting, washing, drying, folding, and transporting linen and clothing.
  • Weighs and records all soiled linen prior to sorting.
  • Operates all washing and drying equipment.
  • Performs titration and pH checks as required.
  • Cleans and processes laundry and linen in accordance with established standards, procedures, and infection control guidelines.
  • May be required to make minor repairs to laundry and linen as required.
  • Distributes laundry and linen as appropriate.
  • Restocks supplies in all areas, as assigned and required.
  • Assists with inventory procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
