Laundry Attendant - Casual
Shift is 20:30 – 08:00 – an 11.5-hour awake shift.
Position Overview
- Responsible for monitoring the Emergency Response system and following protocols accordingly.
- Delivers exemplary laundry services, including scheduled and non-scheduled assignments. Supports the provision of a quality living environment for seniors.
- Ensures all common areas are monitored, neat, and clean.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of the housekeeping process; previous laundry experience in a hotel or retirement environment is an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Awareness of environmentally sound practices; comfortable working alone or in a team; self-directed, able to plan and organize with minimal supervision.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.
- WHMIS certification required; current First Aid certification preferred.
Key Activity Summary
- Under the direction of the Lifestyle Manager, delivers laundry services for linens (dining room) and sheets from tenant rooms, respecting client requests for privacy and choice.
- Responds attentively, efficiently, and politely to tenant requests, questions, concerns, and complaints, taking ownership and following up to ensure satisfaction.
- Completes all tasks within the allotted time, including collection, sorting, washing, drying, ironing, folding, and stocking of linen. Ensures laundry room is in working order and cleaned to high standards, monitors chemical levels, and reports repairs as needed.
- Maintains all common areas, including dining rooms, hallways, restrooms, entrances, activity rooms, wine bar, sports lounge, country kitchen, workshop, theatre, and offices.
- Responsible for setting up the continental breakfast buffet and ensuring residents feel welcome and attended to.
- Ensures the security and privacy of tenants, monitors the emergency response system, adheres to WHMIS protocols, infection control guidelines, and maintains MSDS records.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
