About the Role

The Laundry Attendant reports to the Support Services Manager or a designate and provides laundry services for residents and guests in accordance with the community's policies and procedures, ensuring a safe work environment for all.

Responsibilities

  • Process linens, drapes, and residents' clothing, including collection and redistribution.
  • Stock cupboards with clean linens according to quotas.
  • Label and relabel residents' clothing to ensure clarity and accuracy using labeling equipment.
  • Operate and maintain washers, dryers, and transport carts following established guidelines.
  • Maintain a safe environment by understanding emergency procedures, safely using supplies and equipment, reporting necessary repairs, keeping the work area clean and orderly, and recommending the ordering of chemicals and linens.
  • Participate in orientation for new staff and community education programs.
  • Cross-train to work in other support services areas as needed.
  • Collaborate positively with team members and supervisors.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Grade 10 education or equivalent, with relevant training and experience.
  • WHMIS Certificate.
  • First Aid Certificate, as applicable.
  • Food Safe Certificate is an asset.
  • Pass a vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check per provincial guidelines.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English, with the ability to understand verbal and written instructions.
  • In good health, physically capable of operating related equipment and performing tasks; free from communicable diseases, allergies, or conditions aggravated by working with cleaners, detergents, and equipment.
