Job summary

Alberta Blue Cross has an immediate opening for an interior systems mechanic to join our team. The role involves commercial office space construction including demolition, framing, insulation, drywalling and painting.

Responsibilities include installation work for carpet tile, baseboards, interior doors, window frames and ceiling systems, with an asset for drywall taping. Candidates must read blueprints, lift 30–50 lbs, and work safely both independently and in teams.

Qualifications

• Prefer ISM Alberta Journeyman certificate or apprentices with a minimum of three years of experience.
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
• Able to lift 30-50 pounds and stand, crouch and kneel for long periods.
• Good balance on scaffolding and ladders.
• Able to work independently and with others.
• Must be computer literate and follow safety guidelines and procedures.
• Experience operating power tools.
• Ability to solve arithmetic problems quickly and accurately.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Commercial office space construction, including demolition work, steel stud framing, insulating, drywalling and painting.

• Installation work, including modular carpet tile, baseboards, interior doors and window frames, and t-bar ceiling.

• Ability to tape drywall would be an asset.

WHAT YOU WILL HAVE:

• Preference given to those that hold an ISM Alberta certified Journeyman certificate or will consider apprentices with minimum three years of experience.
