Job description

Overlanders Manufacturing is seeking a reliable and motivated Laser Operator Assistant to support our laser cutting operations. This full-time position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is eager to learn and grow within the precision sheet metal industry.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Assist the Laser Operator with setup, operation, and maintenance of laser cutting equipment.
  • Load and unload sheet metal materials onto the laser table.
  • Perform basic measurements and visual inspections to ensure cut parts meet quality standards.
  • Organize and sort finished parts for the next stage of production.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, following all safety procedures.
  • Support inventory tracking and material handling as needed.
  • Regularly inspect the cut pieces for accuracy, precision, and overall quality, using measuring tools and visual inspections.
  • Identify and resolve any issues during the cutting process, such as material defects or deviations from specifications. Ensure parts are correct before handing over to QC for approval.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations, including proper use of PPE.
  • Follow established procedures to operate the laser safely and minimize risks.

Required Skills and Experience :

  • Previous experience in manufacturing or metal fabrication is an asset but not required.
  • Ability to read and understand basic technical drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Physically capable of lifting and moving sheet metal materials (up to 50lbs repeatedly).
  • Team-oriented with good communication skills.
  • Forklift experience and/or certification is an asset.
  • Experience with basic hand tools (hammer, orbital sander, file, etc.) is required.
  • Basic math skills are required.

Employment Details :

  • Starting Wage: Dependent on experience.
  • Day Shift: Monday to Thursday, 6am to 4:30pm (40 hours per week).
