We are hiring a Large Loss Examiner to join our National Property Technical Team.

This role involves reviewing claim files and overseeing claims handled by third-party adjusters. Unlike on-site large loss adjusters, examiners provide guidance and oversight to ensure claims are managed according to Aviva's best practices. You will manage the investigation, analysis, adjustment, and settlement of property claims, focusing on quality and customer service. Collaboration with specialists and vendors is essential to control costs without compromising service.

This position offers a hybrid work model to provide flexibility and the benefits of both remote and on-site work.

Responsibilities:

• Manage field work by setting expectations and timelines, overseeing claim files to completion.
• Coordinate with insurers on subscription claims and market calls.
• Develop and present claim strategies, coverage analyses, and business cases.
• Investigate claims by reviewing reports and gathering facts.
• Analyze estimates, policies, and reports to determine claim value and settle claims.
• Communicate adjustments clearly via reports, based on policy and loss circumstances.
• Deliver exceptional customer service.
• Ensure data accuracy and process payments to vendors, insureds, and specialists.
• Complete all correspondence promptly, including critical letters and legal notices.
• Identify questionable claims, subrogation opportunities, and risks.

Qualifications:

• In-depth knowledge of the property insurance industry.
• Minimum of 5+ years in commercial and residential property claims.
• Strong construction knowledge.
• Understanding of property insurance case law and coverage wordings.
• Basic accounting skills.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Licensing in NB, PEI & NFLD is preferred.
