Job Title:Language Instructor, Safe Haven (Pending Funding & Union Approval)

Status: Temporary,Part-Time (Union position)
Hours: 32 hours/ week
G rid : 14P
Rate : $40.03 - $50.09/hr (Starting at $40.03/hr)
Schedule: Monday – Thursday (9:00 am – 4:30 pm); Friday (9:00 am – 1:00 pm)

The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced ESL In-Person Teacher with proficiency in utilizing the Absorb Learning Management System (LMS) for language and education purposes. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in ESL instruction and a demonstrated ability to effectively leverage technology to enhance student learning outcomes.

The key areas of responsibility are:

  • Plan and deliver engaging ESL lessons in a classroom setting to students of diverse language proficiency levels.
  • Integrate the Absorb Learning Management System into lesson plans to facilitate interactive and multimedia-rich learning experiences.
  • Develop and adapt curriculum materials, including textbooks, worksheets, and multimedia resources, to meet the needs of individual students and promote language acquisition.
  • Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies and provide timely feedback to promote continuous improvement.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to coordinate instructional activities, share best practices, and address student needs effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and assessment results using the Absorb LMS and other designated platforms.
  • Stay abreast of current trends, research, and best practices in ESL instruction, educational technology, and language acquisition theory.

Qualified candidates will possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • TESOL, TEFL, CELTA, or equivalent ESL teaching certification is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of ESL teaching experience in an in-person classroom setting.
  • Must have Former English Language Training in Employment
  • Proficiency in utilizing the Absorb Learning Management System or similar LMS platforms for language and education purposes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and motivate diverse student populations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of language acquisition theories, androgogical approaches, and instructional strategies for ESL learners.
  • Ability to adapt instructional materials and methodologies to accommodate varying student learning styles, needs, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice in ESL instruction.
