The Role: Lane Closure Technician

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Lane Closure Technician & Traffic Control Person to join our team. The successful candidate will ensure safety around construction zones, direct traffic, set up and maintain traffic control devices, and coordinate with construction crews.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Traffic Direction: Safely direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic using signals, flags, and signs.
  2. Setup and Maintenance: Install and maintain traffic control devices per regulations and project plans.
  3. Communication: Coordinate with crews, motorists, and pedestrians to manage traffic flow.
  4. Safety Enforcement: Ensure compliance with safety protocols, enforce speed limits, and control access.
  5. Hazard Identification: Report hazards to mitigate risks.
  6. Traffic Monitoring: Observe traffic conditions and adjust controls as needed.
  7. Emergency Response: Act swiftly in emergencies, assisting and coordinating with emergency services.
  8. Documentation: Keep records of activities, incidents, and equipment.
  9. Equipment Maintenance: Inspect and maintain traffic control devices.
  10. Training and Compliance: Stay updated on regulations and maintain relevant certifications.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience: At least 3 years in traffic control and 2 years in lane closures.
  • Certification: Lane closure technician course is an asset.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of traffic laws and standards.
  • Skills: Strong communication, decision-making, physical fitness, attention to detail, adaptability, teamwork, problem-solving, customer service, safety consciousness, valid driver's license, reliable transportation.
