Job description

In the summer is a client liaison position that proactively ensures that quality and quantity of projects in the landscape service portfolio are achieved throughout the season. This position coordinates and specifies several different types of landscape maintenance practices including horticulture, tree pruning, site reclamation/rehabilitation, turf maintenance,and integrated pest management. This position works with contracts as well as internal resources to achieve client focused services.

In the winter this role is responsible for the claims response, notification followup, routing adjustments and tracking oversight of the APR Central team.

Duties will include:

  • Assess and provide scope of work estimate for servicing sites
  • Coordination and implementation of route maps
  • Ongoing monitoring of route completion, site progress
  • Work with and directly provide guidance to Team Leader and Supervisor
  • Perform visual and physical inspections to ensure all the work is compliant and in accordance with City standards and direction
  • Prepare work reports, maintain records of inspection and perform other duties as required
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries, notifications and complaints
  • Meet and discuss site requirements, overall vision and technical specifications as required by clients
  • Provide central point of contact for all inquiries related to issues management on sites and between various stakeholders
  • Create and distribute year end client reports
    • Provide summaries of services and costs of program to clients
  • Actively review new site requests, do on site inspections for quantity of work required and put forward recommendations for quotes
  • Synthesize summary reports and analytics as required on a monthly and annual basis
  • Manage and distribute new work requests
  • Send summary reports on performance monitoring to advise team of meeting or missing targets
  • Provide breakdown of services available
    • Creating costing for provided services, analyzing and providing summaries and variance explanations
  • Create summary of year over year services rendered and provide potential service level adjustments for upcoming season
  • Perform other duties as required
Qualifications

  • Completion of a 2 year technology diploma in Landscape Technology, Horticulture, Forestry, or a related field
  • 5 years experience coordinating or supervising work focused on managing natural areas or parkland (such as tree stands, naturalized grasslands, wetlands, constructed wetlands, or storm management facilities)

Assets:

  • Pesticide Authorized Assistant Training an asset

Skills required for success:

  • Knowledge of environmental, forestry, landscape construction techniques practices and Terminology
  • Ability to solve problems and make independent decisions
  • Extensive knowledge of best practices/standard methods; practices, materials, tools, equipment and other disciplines related to the operational area
  • Extensive knowledge of OH&S legislation, Enviso and Whimis
  • Ability to utilize software for the completion of reports, records, etc
  • Ability to critically analyze issues to make decisions, recommend viable and effective solutions and summarize and manage information
  • Practical knowledge and understanding of plant material, plant communities, plant identification and landscape design principles
  • Well developed leadership, team building skills and proven ability to problem solve in creative way
  • Excellent communication skills, verbally and in business / technical writing
  • Proven customer service skills

Conditions of Employment:

  • Successful candidates will be fit for a respirator, and compliance with the City of Edmonton's Code of Practice for Respiratory Protective Equipment, including medical monitoring, is a requirement of this position

Up to 1 permanent full-time position


Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Monday-Friday.
Salary Range: $38.908 - $48.609 (Hourly); $81,239.900 - $101,495.590(Annually)

Salary ranges are in the process of being updated in accordance with the recently ratified collective agreement between the City and CSU 52 and will be forthcoming shortly
