Overview

Earthscape is an award-winning design-build-maintenance firm specializing in high-end residential landscaping and maintenance. We are a collaborative team that values input and teamwork to shape the success of the design team. We focus on designing thoughtful, creative, and innovative outdoor spaces using a wide variety of materials (stone, concrete, wood, steel, etc.). Our main office and yard are located just outside of Elmira, Ontario; a second office/yard is located in Toronto.

The role is a Landscape Designer who will join our growing team. We foster a horizontal management style where your input helps shape the design team. This position supports the sales team by creating site plans, drafting designs, selecting materials, and preparing project documentation without direct client interaction.

Responsibilities
  1. Base Plan Development: Gather and interpret site measurements, survey data, and client preferences to create accurate base plans. Use CAD and other design software to develop foundational drawings for landscape projects.
  2. Site Analysis: Conduct thorough site assessments, considering topography, drainage, soil conditions, and existing vegetation.
  3. Design Drafting: Create designs that align with client budgets while maintaining aesthetic and functional integrity. Prepare detailed construction drawings, sections, and elevations to guide project implementation.
  4. RFQs and Take-offs: Prepare Requests for Quotations (RFQs) and gather pricing from vendors and contractors. Perform material quantity take-offs to ensure accurate cost estimation and budgeting.
  5. Material Selection & Deliveries: Research and recommend appropriate materials for hardscapes and softscapes.
  6. Site Layout: Oversee on-site layout and staking to ensure the design is accurately translated into the built environment.
  7. Planting & Lighting Plans: Develop planting and lighting plans.
  8. End-of-Job Package: Compile as-built drawings, material specifications, and maintenance guidelines for the client and maintenance teams. Ensure documentation is complete for project closeout and future reference.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree or certificate in Landscape Architecture or Design
  • Proficiency with Vectorworks or AutoCAD; knowledge of SketchUp is a bonus
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the industry
  • Ability to read blueprint plans and surveys as well as working site drawings, grade and layout plans
  • Adaptability and flexibility to thrive in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment
  • Construction experience is a bonus
Compensation & Location

Compensation: $50,000–$80,000 commensurate with experience

Location: Hybrid. 7215 Wellington Rd 86, Wallenstein, ON with crews around KW & Guelph, and 25 Esandar Dr, Toronto, ON M4G 4C5.
