The Ideal Candidate

Our client is seeking a passionate and creative Landscape Designer/Architect to join their collaborative team. You will lead master site planning for custom residential landscapes, from initial concept to construction. Involved in all design and construction phases, you will ensure projects reflect the client’s vision and integrate with architectural elements. You'll manage projects, collaborate with disciplines, and oversee design execution, maintaining high standards of sustainability and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Master Site Planning Leadership: Develop comprehensive master site plans for large-scale residential properties, ensuring integration with architectural design. Plan outdoor spaces with functional, aesthetic, and sustainable elements, reflecting the site’s character and client’s vision.
  2. Custom Residential Landscape Design: Design functional, beautiful, and sustainable landscapes, including hardscapes, softscapes, water features, and outdoor living spaces, aligned with the architectural vision.
  3. Project Management: Oversee landscape projects through all phases, managing time, budgets, quotations, and schedules, and ensuring awareness of project fees and deadlines.
  4. Collaboration & Relationship Building: Work closely with clients, architects, interior designers, engineers, and consultants to ensure clear communication and strong relationships. Serve as the main contact for clients, trades, and subcontractors.
  5. Regulatory Approvals & Site Planning: Navigate approval processes for projects, including permits, conservation guidelines, and regulatory submissions, ensuring compliance with zoning and planning requirements.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum 3 years of experience in custom homes and complex residential properties and 5 years in industry.
  2. BLA/MLA from an accredited program.
  3. Membership in professional associations is preferred.
  4. Proficient in drafting and 3D modeling; rendering software knowledge is a plus.
  5. Strong background in master site planning and large-scale landscape design.
  6. Experience managing projects from design to execution, ensuring quality and budget adherence.
  7. Knowledge of landscape materials, techniques, and innovative design.
  8. Familiarity with site planning, regulatory approvals, and municipal processes.
  9. Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.
  10. Excellent time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  11. Strong communication skills for presenting ideas to clients and stakeholders.
