Responsibilities
- Reporting to the CEO, the Landscape Design & Sales Consultant is responsible for delivering sales, as well as creating and presenting landscaping designs. This role combines creative design expertise with strong sales skills to develop tailored landscape solutions that meet client needs, enhance outdoor spaces, and drive company revenue.
- This role is focused on value-selling and cross-selling and as well as growing our business and brand presence through strategic outreach, relationship-building, and continuous lead generation for both residential and commercial projects.
- You will be responsible for working closely with landscape construction teams, vendors and clients to design customized pool solutions and outdoor living spaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with clients to understand their vision, lifestyle needs, and property constraints.
- Use design software (e.g., AutoCAD, U-Vision, Smart Draw) to create 2D / 3D renderings and plans; incorporate elements such as landscaping, decking, lighting, water features, spas, and outdoor structures.
- Ensure all designs comply with local codes, regulations, and engineering standards.
- Perform on-site assessments to gather accurate measurements and evaluate site conditions. This includes grading and providing proper drainage solutions.
- Create a bill of Materials (BOM) and calculate project costs, including materials, labour, equipment, permits, and subcontractors. Set up the information in LMN and Monday.com.
- Work with vendors to obtain up-to-date pricing and product availability.
- Prepare detailed proposals and present comprehensive quotes to clients.
- Identify, qualify, and cultivate new sales leads through multiple channels (cold calls, digital marketing, referrals, industry networks, etc.).
- Maintain an active pipeline of qualified prospects and ensure consistent follow-up to move opportunities through the sales funnel.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to identify high-value opportunities (e.g., new residential communities, commercial facilities, hospitality sectors).
- Serve as the primary point of contact for new leads from initial inquiry to contract signing.
- Guide clients through design and budgeting options with a consultative sales approach.
- Conduct presentations and follow-up to close sales and achieve monthly targets.
- Maintain a CRM system to track prospects, pipeline status, and client communications.
- Build and maintain relationships with builders, developers, architects, homeowners, and commercial property managers.
- Represent the company at trade shows, home shows, industry expos, and networking events.
- Educate prospects on landscaping features, installation timelines, and after-sales services.
Project Coordination & Scheduling
- Manage end-to-end landscaping design projects from start to finish, including managing teams and making sure projects are delivered on time, within scope, budget and as per Conestoga Contracting Group quality standards and client expectations.
- Schedule and coordinate material deliveries, equipment rentals, and subcontractor scheduling to meet project milestones.
- Track progress of field crews and provide regular updates to management.
- Maintain accurate project files, budgets, and logs (e.g., material tracking, site visits, inspections).
- Submit permit applications and ensure compliance with municipal regulations and industry standards.
- Support job costing by tracking labour hours, materials, and equipment usage.
- Will have a designated Project Coordinator on projects above a certain revenue threshold.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in landscape design, construction estimating.
- 3+ years of experience with grading and drainage solutions.
- Proven experience with sales in outdoor spaces.
- Proficiency in design tools such as U-Vision, Smart Draw, and AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and engineering considerations for outdoor living spaces.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally for site visits, seminars and networking events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in project management, landscape architecture, civil engineering, or construction management.
- Experience using CRM software (e.g., LMN, HubSpot).
- Knowledge of local permitting processes and building regulations.
- Portfolio of past design and sales work.
Success Metrics
- Client satisfaction and referral rates.
- Sales conversion ratio and total sales volume.
- Accuracy of project estimates (Estimated costs vs. actual costs, estimated time vs. actual time).
- Timely and high-quality completion of design proposals.
- Project profitability.
- Low call-back ratio (client issues and warranties).
