Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lands & Property Manager to join our dynamic team for a major transportation infrastructure project. In this role of Lands & Property Manager you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects related to the land handover from the client property acquisitions (If required) and minimizing access disturbances to neighbouring properties required for the successful execution of the Project. This role involves working closely with various stakeholders negotiating agreements ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and implementing effective property management strategies. You would report to the Access Manager and be responsible for managing relationships with the Client and various stakeholders.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the Client and any relevant stakeholders
  • Organize and host meetings with the Client and any relevant stakeholders to discuss Lands Property and / or Access subjects
  • Maintain a strong relationship with the Communications Team to ensure appropriate communications are distributed to the public and affected parties
  • Collaborate with legal engineering and project management teams to address concerns negotiate agreements and ensure timely resolution of lands property and access related issues
  • Provide guidance and support to project teams on lands property and access related matters and coordinate with external consultants as needed
  • Prepare and update contractual submittals such as the Property Access Closure Measurement And Verification Plan on an as needed basis and prepare monthly Property Access Closure Analysis Reports to be submitted to the Client (ie. Door / Driveway / Sidewalk Closures)
  • Manage relationships negotiating and acquire agreements (ie. permission to enter crane swing access etc.) with neighbouring properties and business owners across the Project
  • Monitor track and document the various Lands Property and / or Access topics for the Project (ie. Lands Handover PTEs Crane Swing Agreements etc.)
  • Lead challenging and high-profile property access negotiations particularly in those situations posing a significant reputation risk to Metrolinx of a sensitive nature and / or those involving financial implications for the Projects

Qualifications :

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Lands Management / Project Management / Construction Management role. Experience with delivery of large Heavy Civil and / or Transit & Rail Infrastructure construction projects considered an asset
  • Prior experience working closely with Metrolinx Infrastructure Ontario and / or the City Of Toronto considered asset
  • Post-Secondary education in Business Administration Project Management Urban & Regional Planning Urban Land Economics or a related discipline
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Strong computer skills. Proficient in MS Office 365 software (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook)

  • Self-motivated with strong client-facing and ability to build relationships and work effectively within various teams
  • Strong organizational skills attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently while prioritizing and working towards various deadlines
  • Excellent negotiation communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex property issues conduct due diligence and mitigate risks
  • Proficiency in using relevant software applications and databases for property management and reporting
