Missanabie Cree First Nation is looking for a Lands and Resources Manager. The successful applicant will plan, develop and evaluate programs, initiatives, and policies for the lands and resources department of Missanabie Cree First Nation.

The Lands and Resources Director will interpret various documentation, legislation and agreements to provide advice and information on regulations, policies and procedures to Missanabie Cree First Nation’s leadership and membership relating to land use, aboriginal rights, environmental assessments and other related issues.

Qualifications:
The successful applicant should have education in Lands and Resources Management, or a related field and a minimum of 2 years of experience.

The successful candidate should possess the following skills and criteria:

  1. Strong dedication and commitment to asserting and upholding Aboriginal and Treaty Rights
  2. Proven capable of fostering a positive Lands and Resources department or similar department
  3. Capable of strategic planning and growing and reporting on qualitative and quantitative results.
  4. Able to collaborate and network with private and government entities on a regional, provincial and federal level
  5. Strong interpersonal skills and leadership qualities
  6. Strong time management skills and able to implement directives and a strategic plan
  7. Capable of completing applications as needed for funds and programs
  8. Knowledge of strategic planning, accountability processes and risk management
  9. Able to develop
  10. BE WILLING TO PROVIDE A CPIC IF REQUESTED
  11. Class “G” Drivers’ License

Duties/Requirements:

  1. Establish notification and referrals handling process as it relates to Missanabie Cree First Nation’s Consultation Protocol.
  2. Establish department policies and procedures where required.
  3. Utilize the combined funding and resources currently available to increase the Lands and Resource department to meet the growing needs of Missanabie Cree First Nation.
  4. Manage the development of Lands and Resource staff and resources required to achieve full implementation of the Strategic Plan.
  5. Provide briefings and strategic recommendations to Missanabie Cree First Nation leadership on Lands and Resource related files.
  6. Support the building and implementation of a Strategic Plan for the Lands and Resources Department.
  7. Responsible for the successful completion of medium to large-scale land development projects.
  8. Oversee tendering, contracts, regular inspections, and post-construction phases of project execution to meet project deadlines.
  9. Supervise, support, guide and collaborate with Lands & Resources department staff.
