Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in geomatics required.
  • Registered Land Surveyor in Training with the Association of BC Land Surveyors.

The Opportunity:

McElhanney is looking for a Land Surveyor in Training for our Fort St. John office to assist with legal, engineering, and construction-related surveys in a variety of settings, from land development to large-scale infrastructure and utility corridor projects.

Obtain a variety of work experience in a very diverse local survey market, while enjoying numerous opportunities to work on larger, multi-branch projects throughout the province. Salary Range: $78,000- $107,000 per annum. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Working in a team setting to establish project scope, budget and schedule, and other project or client expectations
  • Researching Land Title Office and Crown Registry records in support of proposal, field survey and legal survey plan preparation
  • Conducting field surveys, preparing accurate field notes, managing field to office information flow
  • Processing field survey data, resolving measurements and boundaries, preparing drawing deliverables
  • Ensuring safety and quality assurance procedures are carried out for field returns, drawings, legal plans, documents, and other deliverables
  • Other duties as required.
What You’ll Bring:
  • Geomatics Degree or Diploma and/or a Certificate of Completion from the Canadian Board of Examiners for Professional Surveyors
  • Registered Land Surveyor in Training with the Association of BC Land Surveyors, or eligibility to register
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, good attendance, sound judgment skills, and general computer knowledge
  • Proficiency in related computer applications (CADD and survey processing software)
  • Physical ability to work in mountainous/forested terrain and remote areas
  • Ability to travel out of town for periods of time when called upon
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
This role is designated as a safety sensitive position.
