Job summary

EXP in Calgary, AB, is seeking a Land Development Project Engineer/Designer to join our growing western Canada team. The role focuses on road and utility design for complex land development projects, requiring a P.Eng or technologist and strong CAD skills.

You will coordinate design and field staff, manage schedules and budgets, liaise with clients and authorities, and support business development efforts to secure new projects. At EXP, youll contribute to sustainable solutions.

Qualifications

• Must have/provide professional licensure or eligibility for registration (P.Eng/Technologist).
• Strong CAD skills with Civil 3D experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide road and utility design solutions for complex projects and support PMs.
• Write, sign and possibly seal reports/drawings as required.
• Mentor staff and ensure quality control for designs and documents.
• Monitor project schedule and budgets; report status to project manager.
• Liaise with clients, municipal authorities and contractors as needed.
• Pursue approvals and permits from municipalities and Alberta agencies.
• Contribute to business development, including proposals and pricing.
• Coordinate design and field staff; review work and direct teams.
• Ensure health and safety policies are followed at all sites.

The Land Development Team in EXP’s Calgary office is currently looking for a Land Development Project Engineer/Designerto join their team. The successful applicant will be joining a diverse engineering group in Western Canada poised for growth and challenging opportunities well into the future. This is a full-time position reporting to the Manager, Land Development Operations.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

• Provide road and utility design solutions and input on the design process for key complex projects, including providing support to Project Managers and other design team members
• Write, sign and possibly seal reports/drawings as required
• Supervise/mentor and provide Quality Control for designs, specifications, and contract documents
• Monitor project schedule and budgets and report status to the project manager on a regular basis
• Liaise with clients, municipal approving authorities and contractors, as needed
• Pursue obtaining all necessary approvals and permits for projects, including those from municipalities and provincial (Alberta) agencies
• Participate in business development efforts including writing and pricing proposal efforts, securing new projects/clients, as needed
• Coordinate design and field staff required for internal project teams, including directing, coordinating, and reviewing work done by staff
• Ensure health and safety policies are adhered to at all sites and report to Manager and Joint Health and Safety Committee Members

What your experience looks like

• 5 to 8 years of experience in the Land Development industry, with a focus on land development projects
• Have a strong working knowledge using AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or Technologist, or eligible for registration
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
• Fully conversant with Microsoft software applications
• Strong detail orientation
• Organized, works well under pressure and able to deal with situations with tact
• A valid driver's license and vehicle is required
• Demonstrated ability to perform individually or as a member of project teams
• Ability to multi-task is critical, must enjoy meeting deadlines
• Customer service orientation is critical
