The Role

The Land Development Finance Lead is a key strategic partner managing and expanding Build Waterloo Region’s financial portfolio, collaborating with government officials and private investors. This role oversees financial aspects of land development projects, focusing on affordable housing, industrial and commercial growth, and regional priorities.

Responsibilities
  1. Build and maintain relationships with government officials, industry leaders, and stakeholders to support land development initiatives.
  2. Conduct economic impact assessments and represent the Region in forums and industry events.
  3. Develop and negotiate agreements with partners, advocate for supportive policies, and prepare financial models for projects.
  4. Monitor land market activity, identify development opportunities, and develop investment attraction strategies.
  5. Collaborate with teams to improve financial models, ensure policy compliance, and develop community engagement strategies.
  6. Provide financial analysis and reporting, manage budgets, and ensure project success through data-driven insights.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, or related field; professional designation (CPA, CFA, etc.) required.
  • Experience in land development financial analysis, business modeling, and project management.
  • Strong analytical, political acumen, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Knowledge of regional economic development, investment attraction, and industry trends.
