Collège Boréal is looking for a Land-Based Learning Instructor in Wikwemikong to lead culturally grounded educational experiences connecting students to Anishinaabe knowledge and practices. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, a minimum Grade 12 diploma, and knowledge of Anishinabek culture. Responsibilities include planning and delivering lessons, collaborating with community Elders, and integrating language into activities.
POSITION: Land-Based Learning Instructor
LOCATION: Pontiac School
SALARY: $33.34 per hour
START DATE: September 2, 2025
Under the direct supervision of the Principal, and the general supervision of the Superintendent of
Academics and Education Director, the Land-Based Instructor will lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of culturally grounded, land-based educational experiences that connect students to
Anishinaabe knowledge, language, and seasonal practices while supporting curriculum outcomes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
➢ Conduct planning sessions with the Principal and classroom teachers to align land-based activities
with curriculum.
➢ Prepare and deliver land-based learning experiences across multiple classrooms with minimal
supervision.
➢ Develop long-range learning plans and activity-specific plans in collaboration with school staff
➢ Source and advise on materials and resources needed for land-based instruction.
➢ Invite and collaborate with community Elders and Knowledge Keepers to enrich learning.
➢ Integrate Anishinaabemowin into activities in partnership with the Wiikwemkoong
Anishinaabemowin Kinoomaagewin Department
➢ Build strong relationships with teachers, administrators, and external partners.
➢ Support staff understanding of land-based learning through collaborative planning and resource
development.
QUALIFICATIONS:
➢ CPR and Wilderness First Aid, or willingness to be certified.
➢ Experience in Outdoor Adventure Leadership Experience (OALE) is considered an asset.
➢ Minimum Grade 12 Diploma (OSSD).
➢ Knowledge and appreciation of Anishinabek Culture, Traditions, Language, and History.
➢ Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
➢ Provide a cover letter, resume, and 3 current work-related references.
