Job summary

Catholic Social Services is looking for volunteers for the LACE program to facilitate ESL conversation practice groups. This opportunity allows you to help newcomers with diverse language levels and support their integration into Canadian culture. Commitment is 2 hours a week for at least 6 months.

Job description

The LACE program (Learning and Community Enrichment) take place from Monday - Friday, and is both online and in person.

Do you have a passion for learning about other cultures? Would you like to help newcomers through English language practice? Facilitating an ESL conversation practice group may be the right volunteer role for you!

In this role, volunteers facilitate discussion groups for 5-15 newcomers with diverse language levels. Volunteers also help newcomers become familiar with Canadian culture and learn about community resources, which will allow them to integrate successfully and settle into their new community, in a friendly, respectful, and welcoming manner.

The time requirement for this role is 2 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months.

Our in person sessions take place in the following Edmonton Public Library locations : Stanley Milner, Whitemud Crossing, Millwoods, Calder, Lois Hole & Londonderry Mall.
