Job summary

Photech Environmental Services Inc, a subsidiary of Triumvirate Environmental, seeks a Chemical Technician for our Niagara Falls, ON site. You will work in hazardous waste packaging, sorting, and Lab Pack processing, contributing to consolidation and safe disposal operations.

Responsibilities include unpacking, bulking, and material handling with PPE, plus occasional lift truck use. Training and group insurance are provided; overtime may occur seasonally.

Qualifications

• Develop an understanding of WHMIS regulations.
• Learn Triumvirate health and safety practices.
• Understand TDG regulations.

Responsibilities

• Unpack and bulk sorted hazardous chemical wastes on the processing line.
• Handle materials including bottles, pails, drums and totes per procedures.
• Maintain daily workspace cleanliness and general organization.
• Occasionally operate a lift truck as needed.
• Wear PPE: coveralls, Tyvek apron, CSA boots, hard hat, respirator and gloves.
• Occasional weekend overtime on mobile household hazardous waste events.

Job description

Photech Environmental Services Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of Triumvirate Environmental, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking a Chemical Technician to join our team at our Niagara Falls, ON location.

Photech Environmental Solutions provides hazardous waste disposal services to industrial, research and institutional facilities across Ontario, where chemical wastes are sorted, packaged and removed from generator facilities and shipped to our hazardous waste transfer and processing facility in Niagara Falls, ON. Photech employs highly skilled Labpack Technicians who work within our Lab Pack processing operations, where a Lab Pack is then manually deconstructed for bulk consolidation within our Lab Pack production space.

Responsibilities:

• The unpacking and bulking of sorted & compatible packaged hazardous chemical wastes as part of a processing & consolidation production line.
• Material handling including but not limited to the handling of bottles, pails, 205 L drums and 1000 L totes. Loading, stacking, pumping, lifting and general bulking using applicable material handling procedures and equipment.
• Daily workspace maintenance including, but not limited to cleaning (sweeping, washing, sanitizing) and general organization.
• Occasional lift truck operation.
• Use of company provided personal protective equipment (PPE) includes coveralls, Tyvek apron, CSA approved work boots, hard hat, full-face respirator and task specific gloves.
• Occasional seasonal (May through October) weekend overtime work, either in the production space or in the field as a team member on a mobile household hazardous waste collection event crew.

Basic Requirements:

• Develop an understanding of *WHMIS regulations, *Triumvirate health and safety practices, and *TDG regulations.
• Learn and apply basic knowledge of daily work practices.
• Must be eligible to work in Canada without future sponsorship
• Must have a reliable form of transportation

Schedule and Salary:

• Monday through Friday from 6:00am to 2:30pm
• Occasional overtime
• From $22.00/hour
