Labourers — Confined Space Attendant and Rescue Support

JTR & Custom Works Inc has an urgent need for dependable, safety-conscious labourers who are eager to work and contribute to our team.

These positions involve physically demanding work supporting industrial operations. Depending on operational requirements, employees may be assigned general labour duties, confined space attendant responsibilities, or rescue support duties. Assignments will depend on the employee’s training, demonstrated competency, qualifications, and site requirements.

Key Responsibilities

General Labour and Site Support

• Assist with site preparation, setup, cleanup, and housekeeping.
• Move tools, materials, and equipment using safe handling practices.
• Support supervisors and team members with assigned operational tasks.
• Inspect assigned equipment before use and report defects or concerns.
• Keep work areas organized and maintain clear access routes.

Confined Space Attendant Duties

• Monitor confined space entry activities as assigned.
• Maintain communication with workers inside the confined space.
• Track entry and exit and complete required documentation.
• Remain alert to changing conditions and report concerns promptly.
• Follow entry permits, communication procedures, and emergency response instructions.
• Initiate the required emergency response when necessary and remain at the assigned post until properly relieved.
• Participate in rescue training, drills, and equipment checks as required.
• Assist with preparing and positioning rescue equipment.
• Carry out assigned rescue responsibilities only when appropriately trained, equipped, and authorized.
• Follow the site-specific rescue plan and the direction of the designated rescue lead.

Health and Safety

• Follow company policies, site rules, safe work procedures, and supervisory instructions.
• Participate in safety meetings, hazard assessments, and required training.
• Wear and maintain the personal protective equipment required for each task.
• Report hazards, incidents, injuries, and near misses promptly.
• Stop work and notify the supervisor when conditions are unsafe.

Qualifications and Requirements

We are looking for candidates who:

• Are dependable, punctual, and committed to attending scheduled shifts.
• Can safely perform the essential physical duties of the position, with accommodation where required.
• Are comfortable working in industrial environments and following detailed safety procedures.
• Communicate clearly and work effectively with others.
• Can remain attentive during monitoring duties and respond calmly to instructions.
• Are willing to complete required training and demonstrate competency before undertaking assigned duties.
• Are flexible about work assignments as operational needs change.

The following are considered assets:

• Previous experience in general labour, construction, mining, or industrial maintenance.
• Confined space entry, attendant, or rescue training.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• WHMIS, Working at Heights, or other relevant safety training.
• Experience using industrial tools and safety equipment.

Work Environment and Scheduling

Work may involve prolonged standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying materials, and wearing required protective equipment. Depending on the assignment, employees may work around industrial equipment, noise, dust, and changing weather conditions.
