Job summary

The City of Kelowna is seeking a Labourer II to support Parks and Beaches. This 12-month term position focuses on horticulture bed maintenance, turf work, irrigation repair, and general grounds upkeep.

You will work with a dedicated team, perform heavy manual tasks, and ensure safety and public service. The role offers hourly pay of $33.71 plus 14% in lieu of benefits, with CUPE in effect, and opportunities for career development.

Qualifications

• Good physical condition and stamina for heavy manual work.
• Ability to work with co-workers, the public, and external teams.
• Experience performing general labourer duties.
• Knowledge of sprinkler systems installation, repair and maintenance.
• Basic knowledge of parks and ground maintenance.
• Commitment to service excellence.
• Have a BC Driver’s Licence Class 5.

Responsibilities

• Support horticulture team with planted bed maintenance including weeding, mulching, and plant care.

We are seeking a Labourer II to work in the Parks and Beaches branch that has a desire to serve Kelowna and its citizens. Primary duties include supporting horticulture team with planted bed maintenance including weeding, mulching, and plant care. Support for turf maintenance including, string trimming, edging and mowing. Other duties include irrigation repair, ground cleanliness – garbage collection and hard surface cleaning.

• Good physical condition with sufficient strength and stamina to perform heavy manual work


• Ability to work well with other employees, the general public, and employees of other companies


• Experience performing general labourer duties


• Knowledge of sprinkler system installations, repair and maintenance


• Elementary knowledge of parks and ground maintenance
