Job summary

Wright Tree Service, Inc. is seeking a Labourer/Apprentice Arborist in Winnipeg. This full-time position involves physically demanding work including tree debris removal, loading trucks, and assisting arborists.

Candidates should have basic tree knowledge, a high school diploma, and preferably experience with chainsaws. Training and certifications will be provided to ensure you excel in this vital role within the community.

Qualifications

  • Valid First-Aid and CPR certificates are required.
  • Applicant must pass pre-employment drug screening.
  • Minimum of one year of chainsaw experience would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Keep the worksite clean by removing fallen tree debris.
  • Load and unload trucks with logs, stumps, or brush.
  • Set up tools and equipment for arborists.
  • Assist arborists with tree health assessments.
  • Operate and maintain arborist tools safely.

## Labourer/ Apprentice ArboristApplylocations: Winnipeg, Manitobatime type: Full timeposted on: Posted 2 Days Agojob requisition id: JR123282# **Wright Tree Service of Canada****The Position:** Labourer/ Apprentice Arborist**Type:** Full-time **Reports To:** General Foreperson**About Us:**Wright Tree Service, a business unit of Wright Canada Holdings, provides vegetation management, storm restoration, and work planning services to utility companies and their communities across North America.**Why Wright Canada Holdings:*** A Company Culture of Safety, Family, Integrity, Excellence and Stewardship.* Pay rate of $22 to $30 per hour based on experience.* We provide ALL equipment needed except your CSA Certified Work Boots.* Monday to Friday work week, with the potential for longer shifts based on candidate interest.* Medical and Dental benefits.* Employee Ownership potential.**Key Responsibilities:*** Keep the worksite clean and organized by removing fallen tree debris, including branches, leaves, and trunks.* Load and unload trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris, or feed brush into a woodchipper.* Set up tools and equipment for arborists to use.* Help arborists assess the health and structural integrity of trees, possibly by assisting with measurements, observations, or gathering data.* Perform physically demanding manual labor in various weather conditions.* Set up barriers or signs to keep the area safe for the crew and the public.* Help with tree removal and disposal of limbs, branches, tree debris, and underbrush around utility lines.* Operate and maintain arborist tools and equipment (chainsaws, ropes, etc.) safely and efficiently.* Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate protective equipment, including helmets, gloves, and harnesses.* Be willing to grow and learn in the role, through training from a designated arborist.* Other duties as required.**Experience and Knowledge Expectations:*** Basic knowledge of trees, including identification and growth habits.* Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record; preference will be given to candidates with a Class 1 OR Class 3 license with air brakes endorsement.* High School Diploma or equivalent.* Minimum of one year of chainsaw experience would be considered an asset.* Utility Tree Worker certification would be considered an asset.* Applicant must pass pre-employment drug screening.* Valid First-Aid and CPR certificates.* Willingness to travel within the province of Manitoba.* Motivated to learn independently and from team members, with strong time management skills.* Proficiency in operating and maintaining tools and equipment.* Willingness to work long hours, overtime, and participate in on-call rotations during emergencies.**Join Our Team:**Wright Tree Service of Canada is a business unit of an employee-owned company formed in 2017, known as Wright Canada Holdings (WCH).
