Highlights of the job

We are hiring two (2) full-time temporary (up to 11 months) Labourer 2 positions for WDT System Maintenance, based out of our Edmonton Aurum location. EPCOR Water Services seeks self-motivated, hardworking individuals with previous labourer experience to work outdoors in all weather conditions, operating and maintaining the water distribution and transmission network in Edmonton.

What you’d be responsible for

  • Maintaining and operating Water D&T assets, including hydrants, valves, and transmission components.
  • Administering water system flushing and sampling procedures.
  • Responding to and controlling water main breaks.
  • Using good judgement in manipulating the water distribution and transmission system.
  • Driving EPCOR vehicles to transport tools and equipment.
  • Utilizing hand tools, power tools, pumps, and other equipment safely and effectively.
  • Updating system records accurately.
  • Prioritizing safety and supporting a 'zero injury' culture.
  • Demonstrating a high-performance, disciplined, safe, accountable, and innovative work ethic.
  • Performing other duties related to water system operations and maintenance as assigned.

What’s required to be successful

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent secondary education.
  • At least 1 year of labour and/or maintenance experience in an industrial environment; water distribution experience is preferred.
  • Alberta Environment Level 1 Certification in Water Distribution is an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License with limited demerits (6 or fewer) at hire; a 5-year Driver Abstract is required.
  • Ability to qualify for and maintain an EPCOR driver's permit.
  • Physical ability to lift/carry weights up to 22 kg (50 lbs) daily.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and wear PPE.
  • Security background clearance and professional references.
  • Proven reliability, punctuality, and good communication skills.

  • Starting wage: $27.51/hour; final wage placement depends on experience.
  • Work schedule: 10 hours/day, 4 days/week; some may work rotating shifts (day/night) with potential overtime and locations both within and outside Edmonton.
  • Must be at least 18 years old, legally eligible to work in Canada, and pass all background checks and assessments.
