Job summary

Aecon Energy Solutions Inc. (AESI) in British Columbia is seeking Utilities Labourers to support utility installation projects, site preparation, and daily Labour duties.

You will assist with exposing and installing utilities, organizing materials, and maintaining safety standards on active job sites. Candidates should have a safety-focused mindset, be able to lift up to 25 kg, and possess a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Manual dexterity and physical stamina required.
• Safety-conscious attitude.
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Ability to lift and handle materials weighing up to 25 kg.
• Valid driver’s license and clean abstract.
• Criminal background check may be required.
• Good communication and ability to work independently or in a team.
• Comfortable with digital data entry and using electronic devices.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for complete utility install projects including excavation of live utilities and site reinstatement.
• Handle and distribute construction materials (load/unload, move tools and materials).
• Serve as swamper/spotter for equipment operators.
• Firewatch duties on site.
• Daylighting by hand as required.
• Prepare and clean up construction sites.
• Perform other general labour duties as assigned.

Reporting to the appropriate site supervisor, the Utilities Labourer will be responsible to ensure Aecon Energy Solutions Inc. achieves their general and specific project requirements.

What You'll Do Here

• Responsible for the successful completion of utility install projects including support of excavating live utilities, utility line exposure, debris removal, trenching, excavation of sensitive underground utilities, utility install, and site reinstatement.
• Handle and distribute construction materials (e.g. load and unload vehicles with supplies, equipment and construction materials; move tools, equipment and construction materials to and from work areas.)
• Swamper/Spotter for equipment operators.
• Firewatch.
• Daylighting by hand.
• Prepare and clean up construction sites.
• Perform other general labour duties and responsibilities as assigned.
