Job summary

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and at least 1 year of experience around heavy equipment. The position is full-time and unionized, located in Port Coquitlam.

Responsibilities

  • Empty garbage and recycling; replace liners; dispose of waste materials.
  • Clean, sweep, and maintain shop floors and work areas for safety.
  • Remove snow, ice, and debris from entrances and surrounding areas.
  • Pressure wash and clean maintenance bays, shop floors, machinery, and vehicles.
  • Maintain clean, organized shop facilities per safety and environmental standards.
  • Identify and report hazards and housekeeping concerns.
  • Assist with general shop maintenance to ensure readiness and efficiency.
  • Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Labourer is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly work environment within the shop. This role supports daily operations by performing general cleaning, basic maintenance tasks, and ensuring shop areas remain organized and hazard ‑ free.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Empty garbage and recycling containers, replace liners, and safely dispose of waste materials, including scrap metal and other shop waste
  • Clean, sweep, and maintain shop floors and work areas to ensure a safe and efficient working environment
  • Remove snow, ice, and debris from building entrances, doorways, and surrounding areas to maintain safe access for employees and equipment
  • Pressure wash and clean maintenance bays, shop floors, machinery, tools, and company vehicles
  • Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary shop facilities in accordance with established safety, housekeeping, and environmental standards
  • Support a safe workplace by identifying and reporting hazards, unsafe conditions, and housekeeping concerns
  • Assist with general shop maintenance and cleanliness tasks to ensure operational readiness and efficiency
  • Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while performing assigned duties
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or general equivalency
  • Valid driver’s license
  • 1 year eaxperience working on or around heavy equipment
  • Must be able to work within strict established safety and work guidelines/rules to complete job
  • Ability to pass the required written examinations, read and understand safety instructions, rules, regulations and other written or printed material in English

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Medical and Drug Testing

This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.
