Job summary

Wright Tree Service of Canada is seeking a Labourer to support arborists with tree care and outdoor maintenance. Work includes pruning, trimming, removal, and debris clearing, in a physically demanding outdoor setting.

You will operate equipment like chainsaws and woodchippers, while adhering to safety policies and supporting a positive team environment. The role runs Monday to Friday in a field-based, on-site capacity.

Responsibilities

• Keep worksite clean by removing tree debris and maintaining clear pathways.
• Assist arborists by fetching tools, holding materials, and providing general help.
• Load and unload logs, stumps, brush, and debris; feed brush into a woodchipper.
• Set up tools and equipment for arborists and help assess tree health and structure as needed.
• Maintain safety and report hazards; ensure proper storage of materials and equipment.

Essential Job Duties

• Keep the worksite clean and organized by removing fallen tree debris, including branches, leaves, and trunks
• Ensure that pathways are clear and safe for workers and equipment
• Support Arborists fetching tools, holding materials, or providing general help
• Load and unload trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris, or feed brush into a woodchipper
• Set up tools and equipment for arborists to use
• Help arborists assess the health and structural integrity of trees, possibly by assisting with measurements, observations, or gathering data
• Perform physically demanding manual labor in various weather conditions
• Set up barriers or signs to keep the area safe for the crew and the public
• Request repairs or replacement of equipment when necessary
• Actively support and encourage working safely and supporting a positive team environment
• Report safety hazards or unsafe working conditions to supervisors
• Ensure that materials and equipment are stored in a safe and organized manner
• Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright's culture of safety and employee ownership
• Comply with applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings

Other Duties

• Position may require some outside travel
• During emergencies or natural disasters may be required to be on duty for the duration of the disaster
• Works around excessive noise from machines, chainsaws, woodchipper and must wear proper personal protective equipment
