Job description

Georgia-Pacific is looking for safety-oriented and energetic team members to join our team at our Englehart, Ontario facility. As part of our production team, you will play a crucial role in the manufacturing process.

This is an entry level position provides a pathway to future operator opportunities while supporting the safe and efficient operation of our mill through essential labour and housekeeping responsibilities. Successful candidates will begin by performing labour and housekeeping duties while learning mill processes, equipment, and technology systems. As opportunities arise, employees may progress into operator roles involving equipment operation, quality inspections, material handling, process monitoring, troubleshooting, product changeovers, and the use of computerized production systems. Employees are expected to actively participate in training and development opportunities to support this progression.

You will begin on a Monday to Friday eight (8) hour shift schedule but will transition to a rotating twelve (12) hour 2-2-3 shift schedule which includes nights and weekends, and holidays with increased compensation.

What You Will Do

Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and your colleagues

Housekeeping: Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area and facility, ensuring a safe and efficient workspace

Operate Machinery: Safely operate and monitor various production machines and mobile equipment according to standard operating procedures

Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections and quality checks to ensure products meet specifications and report any discrepancies immediately

Material Handling: Assist in the loading, unloading, storage, and documentation of raw materials and finished products.

Process Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production processes and reduce waste

Team Collaboration: Work effectively with team members and supervisors to achieve production goals and address operational issues.

This role involves working in a manufacturing facility with exposure to noise, dust, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.

The work is physically demanding and requires prolonged standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting, pushing, pulling, and preforming manual labour activities throughout the facility.

Team members regularly work in different production and operational areas based on business needs and training requirements.

Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn as required

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

Able and willing to work a rotating twelve (12) hour 2-2-3 schedule, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.

Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Able to use computers, tablets, mobile devices, and workplace technology required for trainings, communication, documentation, and production activities.

Able to read, understand, and follow written procedures, safety requirements and operating instructions.

Able to perform physically demanding work in a manufacturing environment, including standing, walking, climbing, lifting, pushing, pulling, and working in varying temperatures.

Willing to learn multiple jobs and actively participate in training and development opportunities leading to production operator responsibilities.

What Will Put You Ahead

One (1) year or more of experience working in a manufacturing, industrial, mining, forestry, construction, warehousing, transportation, agricultural, production environment.

Experience working a rotating shift schedule that includes nights and weekends.

Experience operating forklifts, mobile equipment, or industrial machinery.

Experience using computerized systems, HMIs, tablets, scanners, production software, or other workplace technology.

Experience following standard operating procedures, work instruction, quality standards, or safety procedures.

Demonstrated ability to learn new tasks, equipment, and technology quickly.

Experience working in a fast-paced environment where priorities and assignments regularly change.

Demonstrated record of reliable attendance and punctuality.
