Qualifications

  • Human Resources experience is required.
  • Experience managing/interpreting collective agreements is an asset.
  • Experience in building analytical models and conducting thorough analysis is beneficial.

Job description

As a Labour Relations Specialist, you will have a dynamic and broad scope including labour market intelligence, workforce management, immigration, union and stakeholder management, and, collective agreement management and interpretation. Your goal will be to collect, analyze, strategize and report trends and data related to labour market intelligence and workforce management. Your success will be demonstrated by your ability to collaborate and build trade union management relationships, and manage internal/external stakeholder relationships with needed data.

Your Responsibilities
  • Collect and evaluate information about competing labour resource organizations to identify gap areas
  • Conduct thorough research on labour market trends, apprenticeship trends, labour laws, industry practice, and immigration practices
  • Provide advice, guidance and coaching to all levels of management on labour relations matters including collective agreement interpretation, wage schedules, trade mitigation strategies, etc.
  • Prepare analytical reports and briefing notes to share accurate information with stakeholders
  • Coordinate, track and report on progression of assigned projects
  • Perform internal/external benchmarking and competitor analysis
  • Chair regular meetings / committee’s regarding labour relations and labour resourcing matters
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and employment laws by staying up to date on regulatory and industry developments affecting areas of labour
  • Formulate and implement strategies to further develop and expand labour relations scope within Irving Oil
Your Skills
  • Strong ability to work as part of a team and independently, network, and build relationships

Your Experience
  • Post secondary education or equivalent experience in Labour Relations or related field
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint (create, populate, update), Power BI
  • Experience managing / interpreting collective agreements is an asset
  • Experience building analytical models and conducting thorough analysis is an asset
