Ketler Farms is a 30-acre state-of-the art greenhouse facility located in Staples, ON, that is committed to quality Long English and Mini Cucumber production. Established since 2021, Ketler Farms is an ever-growing company offering a variety of career developing opportunities. With an upcoming 30-acre expansion of our 90-acre total acre site plan, we are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable individual to become a key member of our dedicated and dynamic team.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Labour Manager is a critical member of the Ketler Farms team. They are responsible for overseeing the production planning and allocation of resources for the farm. They will monitor and analyse labour costs and operational budgets to ensure informed strategic decisions are made. The Labour Manager will facilitate effective inter-departmental communications related to production and labour planning.

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

  • Planning, coordination, and monitoring of all production and labour for the Greenhouse and Warehouse.
  • Day-to-day planning of activities and data collection oversight and management using PRIVA software
  • Working collaboratively with the Growers and Department Supervisors to ensure company financial, production, and quality goals are being followed and met.
  • Leading and evaluating progress of cost saving initiatives for the farm, including but not limited to trials, inventory / product change, training, etc.
  • Supporting the General Manager in ensuring that the operation remains within budget for labour and throughput; monitor and measure performance to minimize downtime, reduce costs and improve quality and efficiencies.
  • Collecting, recording, and analyzing data using PRIVA and Microsoft software to provide efficiency, quality, and ease of information for the General Manager.
  • Communicating and addressing variances, quality issues and concerns with relevant departments to help identify the causes and implement sustainable corrective action.
  • Leading and motivating the team by fostering a culture of continuous improvement and talent development.
  • Creating and presenting reports to upper management to support operational decision making.
  • Monitoring the working environment to ensure compliance of Good Manufacturing Practices, Health and Safety, Food Safety, HACCP, and all company policies and procedures.
  • Actively initiate, participate in, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Reporting as required by management and the company.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the company or management.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary in horticulture or business considered an asset.
  • Strong Greenhouse production and operational knowledge required.
  • Knowledge of PRIVA software is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Health and Safety, Food Safety, HACCP principles
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with tact and discretion.
  • Strong problem-solving skills required to analyze / solve problems and any unforeseen complications that could arise.
  • Must be able to prioritize and multi-task while having strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle are required.
  • Available to work Monday-Saturday after hours may be required at times.
  • Working Conditions

  • The Labour Manager will spend half of their time in the facilities (Greenhouse and Warehouse) and the other half of their time will be spent in the office.
  • The Labour Manager will need to maintain regular communication with the Greenhouse Supervisor, Warehouse Supervisor, Human Resources, Growers, and the General Manager.
  • Physical Requirements

  • Role frequently requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, use hands to handle or feel product or packaging, and reach with hands and arms.
  • The position requires the ability to regularly lift up to 30-pounds, occasionally up to 50-pounds.
