The Team: The Seed Production section manages five ministry seed orchard sites, representing 50% of BC's orchard capacity. The team includes 11 full-time staff, 19 long-term auxiliary employees, and up to 80 seasonal staff, managing 50,000 trees across 40 orchards. Kalamalka Seed Orchard has a small team of 6-8 people working on orchard development and operations.
The Role: Responsible for orchard cone maintenance through picking and collecting, or for orchard tree maintenance via pruning using ladders and lifts.
Education and Experience:
Preference may be given to those with experience in working with plants, such as tree planting, gardening, landscaping, orchard work, or cone picking.
Twenty (20) positions available. This is a temporary position until August 29, 2025, with possible extension. Full-time on-site work required. An eligibility list may be created. BC Public Service employees must reside in BC at employment start.
