Job summary

Ledcor Construction, Inc. in Calgary, AB is seeking an experienced Utility Construction Laborer to support underground utility and civil construction work, operate equipment, and work with the crew under the Foreperson’s direction.

You will perform vehicle checks, drive a cube van or dump truck, read plans, and assist in maintaining a safe, organized work site while supporting digging, restoration, and safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • Valid full Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Experience in underground utility construction, civil construction, or landscaping is an asset.
  • Ability to read underground telecommunications plans and work maps.
  • Experience operating and maintaining mini excavators, skid steers, and backhoes.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Technically adept with the ability to learn quickly, analyze information, and problem-solve.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Completes regular vehicle maintenance checks and associated paperwork.
  • Drives cube van or 3-ton dump truck with trailer in tow.
  • Keeps crew vehicles clean and organized.
  • Works with crew members to perform tasks (excavating pits, rod, and rope conduits, placing underground cables in conduits, assisting in directional bore operations, removing and replacing concrete and asphalt, etc...).
  • Operates light equipment and lifts heavy items (up to 50 lbs.).
  • Reads underground utility locates and ensures safe digging practices are always being adhered to.
  • Assists in restoring job sites back to their original state.
  • Maintains a healthy and safe work environment for the crew, the public, the customer, and Ledcor

Description

You are an experienced Utility Construction Laborer with knowledge of underground utility or civil construction and maintenance. You will be responsible for performing general day to day duties and operating equipment alongside other crew members to complete work safely and efficiently, under the direction of the Foreperson.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Completes regular vehicle maintenance checks and associated paperwork

  • Travel to various sites in the surrounding Calgary, AB area

  • Working outdoors in various weather conditions
