Alberta Precision Labs in Camrose is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist I to join the Laboratory team at St. Mary's Hospital. You will perform a range of diagnostic procedures, process samples, analyze results, and ensure accurate reporting.

Qualifications

  • Must have completed an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
  • Experience in clinical chemistry, hematology, transfusion medicine and specimen procurement.
  • Days, evenings, nights, weekends; may be required to take call & live within 30 minutes of the facility when on call.
  • Strong English communication and teamwork under pressure; ability to work independently and prioritize workload.

Description:

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

Required Qualifications:

Additional Required Qualifications:

This is a working level position utilizing technical skills & judgment while performing a diverse range of diagnostic procedures and duties within the scope of practice of a Medical Laboratory Technologist I. Current experience in Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Transfusion Medicine and Specimen Procurement is required. The position includes days, evenings, nights, weekends; may be required to take call & live within 30 minutes of the facility when on call. Must have the ability to effectively communicate in English, with strong interpersonal and communication skills. This includes the ability to demonstrate tact and courtesy when dealing with coworkers, patients, physicians & leadership. Requires strong organizational skills & ability to assume responsibility, work independently and promote good teamwork under pressure & in emergencies. Demonstrate ability to prioritize workload & adapt to stressful situations by showing initiative, good judgment & attention to detail. Practices effective infection control, & safety techniques as applicable. Proficient computer skills. Demonstrate desire & actions to enhance professional development. Ability to interpret, explain & apply applicable legislation, standards, policies & procedures. Receptive to new ideas & change.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current phlebotomy experience preferred. Experience in the past two years: Complete Transfusion Medicine. Operating and Troubleshooting; Vitros XT3400, Access 2, Sysmex XN1000, ACL Elite Pro, ISTAT, Triage, Ortho Gel method, GEM 5000. Connect Care training an asset.
