Position Summary

What You Will Be Doing

  • Perform the following tests and screens as per False Creek Wellness protocol:
    • Vitals and resting measures including but not limited to: blood pressure, oxygen saturation, oral temperature, heart rate and respiratory rate
    • Measuring height, weight, and waist circumference
    • Visual acuity
    • Screening spirometry
    • Resting ECG (training provided if required)
    • Collect blood samples by venipuncture
    • Urine sample collection
    • Any other tests deemed appropriate by the Company with training provided by the Company. All tests will be reviewed by the Medical Director prior to implementation to ensure they fall within scope of the Laboratory Technician
  • Ensures all necessary documentation is collected, completed, logged and specimens are correctly processed.
  • Process samples as needed, including centrifuge or “spinning” blood samples as per the policies of the Company and receiving lab
  • Dispose of any venipuncture or sample collection supplies appropriately (sharps etc.)
  • Ensuring exam rooms are stocked appropriately, spaces and instruments and equipment sanitized and ready for each client
  • Assisting physicians when requested
  • Ensures all inquiries and problems are handled in a courteous and professional manner
  • Ensure that standards for technical efficiency, quality control are met, and Ministry of Health and other government regulations are adhered to
You Have

  • Completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program plus one year’s recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Works well in a team environment, as well as independently
  • Above-average client experience etiquette and professionalism
  • Ability to talk to patients in an empathetic and caring manner
  • Outstanding organizational and customer service skills
  • Excellent English communication skills: grammar as well as spoken English
  • A team player capable of interacting professionally with staff and physicians
  • Skilled using Microsoft Office and open to learning new technology and platforms
  • Protecting patient confidentiality at all times

The salary offered for this position falls within a specified salary range and will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, and the specific needs of the organization.
