The Role:

We are looking for our next Laboratory Technologist within Roquette Canada. The Title will be responsible for managing analysis of routine and non-routine samples, lead method validation and development. This position will also require troubleshooting equipment, support environmental monitoring programs, and provide training and backup across microbiological and analytical labs.

What You’ll Do:

  • Maintain laboratory and plant safety practices as per GLP and GMP standards.
  • Analyze raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using approved quality control methods.
  • Maintain records such as batch evaluations, calibration logs, and electronic entries in SAP.
  • Identify out-of-specification (OOS) products, communicate issues to appropriate departments, and help develop revised quality control procedures.
  • Strategically manage retained samples, collect in-process data, and ensure evaluations meet established standards.
  • Maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments. Support repairs, preventive maintenance, and ensure all equipment meets operational standards.
  • Train laboratory and operation staff on standard analytical methods and lab related practices.
  • Communicate analytical data to Laboratory Manager and production supervisors daily or as directed.
  • Consult and discuss quality control issues and challenges with Laboratory Manager.
  • Coordinate daily progress, delays, product availability, and OOS status.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by quality managers.
  • Availability for on-call support and participation in a rotation covering weekends and off-hours may be required.

What You’ll Need:

  • Education:
    • M.Sc./B.Sc. / BA in Chemistry, Food Science, Biology, Agriculture or Microbiology or other relatable science degree is highly preferred.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 3–5 years of laboratory experience in conducting physical and chemical analyses is required. Familiarity with instruments such as protein analyzers, NIR, HPLC, and ICP is considered an asset.
  • Primarily indoors, with occasional visits to the process area. Exposure to elevated temperatures, cold, humidity, heights, dust, fumes, chemicals, and gases may occur.
  • Physical Demands
    • This role requires repetitive use of hands and arms. The individual must be able to talk, hear, see, and distinguish colors. Additionally, they must be capable of lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying up to 50 lbs. and climbing stairs as needed.
