Job Summary

Under guidance, direction, and supervision, sets up and operates test equipment and conducts routine and specific tests. Disassembles and assembles test samples, records technical data, drafts reports, and writes product descriptions. Notes and records any substandard features of products. Acts as an assistant in complex or unusual tests under senior staff guidance. Maintains good housekeeping at all times.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain good housekeeping, prioritize safety, and use PPE at all times.
  • Set up and operate test equipment, perform tests within a specific product area, determine compliance, and recommend certification; conduct specialized testing when required.
  • Perform tests according to work orders; conduct routine tests independently; assist in complex or unusual tests under guidance from senior staff or job holder.
  • Calculate and summarize test results mathematically; relate results to product specifications; liaise with other departments as needed.
  • Assemble and disassemble test samples; prepare laboratory test equipment for testing; operate laboratory test equipment.
  • Note and record discrepancies observed before or during tests and refer issues to PGM, Certifier, or Senior Lab Tech.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of tools, equipment, and work area post-testing, including laboratory cleanup duties.
  • Operate basic test equipment and may need to purchase tools or equipment from external sources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.
Education & Experience
  • 3-year Engineering Technician (OACETT) or equivalent qualification.
  • 3-4 years of related experience.
  • Relevant certification in the field, e.g., Wire and Cable Product certification.
