Lab Technician

Intertek is searching for a Lab Technician to join our Building & Construction team in our Mississauga, ON office. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in Product Testing and Regulatory Compliance!

What you'll do:

1. Receive, examine, and record inbound samples for testing through a login process.
2. Deliver test samples to the sample staging area.
3. Monitor the availability of supplies needed for testing and report needs to the Laboratory Manager/Supervisor.
4. Conduct testing on products and materials used in construction, such as insulation, windows, doors, wall/flooring assemblies, guardrails, roofing, and glass panels.
5. Perform material and structural testing including tensile, compression, flexural, wind, air pressure, impact, thermal conductivity, and water vapor transmission tests.
6. Conduct field inspections and quality testing on construction projects, such as guardrail load testing and leakage tests on windows, doors, and curtain walls.
7. Verify and communicate test results, and record data accurately in logs, control charts, calibration records, and worksheets.
8. Maintain documentation, equipment, and work areas in a neat, safe, and organized manner.
9. Assist in training less experienced staff.
10. Perform all duties in compliance with safety policies, quality systems, ethics, environmental policies, and company strategies, exercising good judgment and diplomacy.
11. Other duties as assigned, supporting company policies and procedures.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Completion of a university or college program in building construction, mechanical engineering, or material sciences.
• Experience in testing or formal education in physics or mechanical fields is advantageous.
• Experience in materials testing, inspection, and reading test standards is preferred.
